I am a automation freelancer, the Foil tape applicator automation was designed for a customer (without NDA) who wanted to cut a foil insulation roll (usually 4 feet wide) and apply foil tape on two edges. So this design is made in three sub-assemblies, for portability. On e sub-assembly is just to hold the insulation roll, second sub-assembly is collection bin, the third sub-assembly is the heart of the system, which has series of rollers, which pulls the foil insulation roll, run by stepper motor. the foil tape applicators are at both edges. As the insulation rolls the foil tape is applied on the side edge, once the desired length of insulation is rolled, the other foil tape applicator runs to cut the insulation and apply foil tape along the edge, then at the end a blade cuts the foil tape and rollers rolls out the finished product. The unique part of the foil applicator is, that the foil tape has paper backing, which is opened half the width, applied the half sticky surface on insulation edge and other half of foil tape remains with the paper backing, so that it doe not stick to anything, in order to use the finished product, the paper backing has to be removed.
